No dia 27 de Março de 2013 foi inaugurada em Barcelinhos,
Barcelos, a mais pequena biblioteca pública de Portugal, situada na margem
esquerda do rio Cávado, torna-se num local privilegiado de acesso à população e
turistas e de incentivo à leitura.
Por ser uma iniciativa de louvar não podia
deixar de falar dela aqui no blogue.
Uma cabine
telefónica foi transformada numa minibiblioteca através de uma parceria entre a
Junta de Freguesia de Barcelinhos, a Câmara de Barcelos e a Fundação PT, no
âmbito do programa Livros do
Cávado. A Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian também contribuiu,
atribuindo um subsídio de 300 euros para a aquisição de publicações.
A ideia de transformar a cabine, de estilo
inglês, para este efeito terá partido da junta de freguesia, mas foi a Fundação
PT que se encarregou de restaurar a réplica londrina, e de a transportar de
Lisboa para Barcelinhos.
Como é
óbvio, por uma questão de espaço, o número de revistas, livros e jornais em
exposição nas prateleiras da pequena cabine é limitado, são cerca de 300 títulos.
Isso não significa que os utentes rapidamente descubram que já não têm nada de
novo para ler. As obras disponíveis serão periodicamente renovadas com recurso
aos cerca de dois mil livros do catálogo da biblioteca da junta, em
rotatividade. Ainda assim, cabe de tudo um pouco na cabine, desde a poesia a
publicações científicas, e os idiomas também serão diversos, uma vez que
Barcelinhos é um ponto de passagem dos Caminhos de Santiago.
Com
vista para o rio, para a ponte medieval, e para o castelo romano, este é um local
de referência a nível paisagístico e propício à leitura.
Brevemente
os habitantes da freguesia vão poder requisitar, gratuitamente, os livros para levar
para casa, durante uma semana.
A
tomar conta da cabine, que estará aberta das 9h ao meio-dia e das 14h às 17h30,
vão estar funcionários da junta.
A
ideia não é completamente nova visto que já existem no mundo outras cabines
transformadas em bibliotecas, contudo a localização é muito boa e é uma
iniciativa de louvar e deve se estender a todo o território nacional.

On March 27, 2013 was
inaugurated in Barcelinhos, Barcelos,
the smallest public library of Portugal,
situated on the left bank of the river Cávado, it is in a privileged access to
