Um filme que vale mais pela qualidade das imagens do que propriamente pelo argumento. Contudo, muito interessante para os admiradores de arte. Uma forma de ver um retrato de alguns aspectos da vida e obra de Johannes Vermeer (nasceu em Delft a 31 de Outubro de 1632, e morreu Delft em 15 de Dezembro de 1675) um pintor holandês do Século XVII, cujos quadros são apreciados pelas cores transparentes, composições inteligentes e uso da luz. Faz parte da Idade de Ouro Holandesa encabeçada por Rembrandt, um período da história da Holanda caracterizado por conquistas culturais e artísticas.

Personal opinion:

A film that is worth more for the quality of images than by the argument itself. However, it’s very interesting for admirers of art. One way to see a picture of some aspects of the life and work of Johannes Vermeer (born in Delft on 31 October 1632, Delft and died on December 15, 1675) a Dutch painter of the seventeenth century, whose paintings are appreciated by the colors transparent, compositions and intelligent use of light. It is part of the Golden Age Dutch headed by Rembrandt, a period in Dutch history characterized by cultural and artistic achievements.

Synopsis

- Inicialmente a Rapariga com Brinco de Pérola era para ter sido dirigido por Mike Newell e estrelado por Ralph Fiennes e Kate Hudson. Porém Newell deixou o projeto na fase de pré-produção, o que fez com que um dos produtores também abandonasse o filme. Com ambas as desistências o início das filmagens teve de ser adiado.

- Devido a demora no início das filmagens tanto Ralph Fiennes quanto Kate Hudson desistiram do projeto. Kirsten Dunst chegou a acertar sua participação, mas teve que desistir do filme após ser contratada para atuar em Homem-Aranha

- O filme foi parcialmente rodado nos sets de filmagens de Secret Passage (2002), que representavam Veneza e estavam localizados em Luxemburgo. Os cenários foram alterados para que a cidade se parecesse com Delft.

- Initially, the Girl with a Pearl Earring was to have been directed by Mike Newell and starring Ralph Fiennes and Kate Hudson. But Newell left the project during pre-production, which caused one of the producers also leave the movie. With both drop out the start of filming has been delayed.

- Due to delay in start of filming both Ralph Fiennes and Kate Hudson gave up the project. Kirsten Dunst has come to settle their participation, but had to give the film after being hired to work on Spider-Man

- The film was partly shot in the film sets the Secret Passage (2002), which represented were located in Venice and Luxembourg. The scenarios were changed for the city to look like Delft.
